Guardians of Basilea is a family-rooted guardian breeding program and homestead — and more than that, it is a heart project.

We are one steward within the larger Grand Korumak breed development project, contributing our own philosophy, standards, and vision for what a modern livestock guardian should be.

We believe families and farms deserve guardians who are powerful, stable, and safe to live with — dogs who protect without becoming a liability, and who live peacefully within family life, children, livestock, and generational homesteads.

Our Family & Homestead

Our large family lives and works on a working homestead with goats, poultry, and mixed livestock. Our 10 children are raised alongside our dogs, and our dogs are raised alongside our children.

Our guardians are not kennel dogs.

They are not isolated pasture dogs.

They live real life with us — daily farm routines, children, livestock, visitors, chores, seasons, and weather. This gives us a true picture of their temperament, judgment, and stability — not just how they look, but who they are.

We believe this kind of upbringing creates guardians who are safer, more thoughtful, and more reliable for real families.

Our Vision

Our vision is to help build a new standard for homestead guardians — a guardian that blends ancient livestock protection instinct with modern family compatibility.

We are intentionally developing guardians who are:

• Calm and emotionally stable

• Thoughtful, slow to escalate, and fair in their responses

• Deeply bonded to their families

• Respectful and steady with livestock

• Capable of handling real predator pressure

• Safe around children and visitors

We believe strong guardian genetics are not weakened by love, bonding, and guidance — they are refined into stable, predictable protectors.

Our Commitment

We breed slowly, intentionally, and responsibly.

All of our breeding dogs are genetically tested and hip-cleared before being bred. We raise our puppies with structure, exposure, and care — and we commit to supporting every Guardians of Basilea dog for life.

This is our contribution to the Grand Korumak Project.
